
Hospital structures are the most energy-intensive buildings of the Public Administration, as they have daily, high needs in heating and cooling, due to the patients who are hospitalized or live in them and the need for uninterrupted operation 365 days a year. For example, the energy costs of the Constantopoulou Hospital are estimated at EUR 639 008 per year, while those of the Argolida General Hospital are in the order of EUR 453 300 per year.
By decision of the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance Nikos Papathanasis, in cooperation with the Minister of Health Adonis Georgiades, the energy upgrade operations of the General Hospital "Sotiria", the General Hospital of N. Ionia Konstantopouleio-Patissia and the General Hospital of Argolida, with a total budget of 12,238,422 euros, are included in the "Environment and Climate Change" programme of the NSRF 2021-2027.
According to the relevant announcement by the Ministry of National Economy and Finance, the buildings of these hospitals, through the implementation of the interventions are expected to upgrade their existing energy category by at least two energy categories.
